Inn at Woodbridge
The goal was to create a 116-unit affordable senior rental community that has energy, vitality, comfort and security, while achieving high density and being cost efficient. The site layout addresses security and context by using parking as a buffer to the busy streets while maintaining the pedestrian circulation inside through a major and secondary court, avoiding seniors’ circulation between cars and across street. The L-shaped buildings contain services at the center and stretch out modularly to respond to the site. Maintaining two stories at this density eliminated the need for mundane interior corridors, while the exterior stairs and walkways created visual interest and animated the buildings. The project created a cozy residential feel for active adults while addressing financial and practical issues as well.
