Strada, with its rustic Italian farmhouse character, hit a niche that was not served by anything in the local new housing market. This project was a calculated leap of faith – an entire neighborhood made of homes designed for singles and couples with no children. In the affluent Orange County coastal community of Newport Coast, these homes were designed to tap a previously untapped market – million-dollar homes with one primary living space, great rooms designed with open kitchens in lieu of more traditional formal living rooms, and separate family rooms. The detached home offices reflect today’s work-at-home lifestyle including a third-floor retreat accessed only from the master suite. Detached courtyard-accessed guest suites are designed to provide privacy for the guests and primary residents. The interior space planning and scale of Strada is soothing and comfortable vs. being vertical and dramatic.
